the default atmosphere for a star is a bit unreal, so how do change it so it looks like rthorvalds sun addon. like you can change the texture used (astar.jpg)

I think you mean the flare.jpg file in Celestia's textures folder. If you don't like it, Bob Hegwood has collected a whole batch of different ones which you can find on the Celestia Motherlode.

Michael,

I thought he meant the actual surface textures. In other words, you can find
surface textures in the Celestia\textures\medres folder for A, B, G etc. stars.

In my folder there are textures called astar.jpg, bstar.jpg, gstar.jpg, etc.

Do we have any of these on the Motherlode?

Just a thought...

Thanks, Bob

I am interested in the atmosphere as the default is a boring and unrealistic thin line around the star. But rthorvalds is really thick and looks a lot better. I thought that somewhere there must be a file that determines a stars appearance, like the solarsys.ssc determines how the planets look like the textures used the atmosphere, colour etc.
