"Bookmarks". Beacons in space that represent your position and viewing direction afterwards. Select one from your list and your old position is replicated.
Would be great for
  • demos (bookmarks visibility must be optional)
  • tracking the night-sky from your home
  • just returning to points of interest on a regular basis

The beacons should be able to save and reprocude all options the standard viewing point is supposed, such as follow, keep centered, etc...

what do you think?
feasible? already there and I've missed that option? in the works?

I think this shouldn't be too difficult to code.
This is a nice idea, how do you think about lines between the two points in space? (such as orbits, only in another color)

This has already been implemented. Click on "Locations" and select "Add to locations". Unfortunately this does not seem to work for version 1.2.4 - anyone know why this is ?

There's not even a "location"-button/-menu in the gtk (i.e. linux) version of celestia 1.2.4 - none that I'm aware of, anyway.

No, but all the code is ready. If I have some time left over, I'll finish it for Linux.
