Too many stickies/announcements here!

I think there are too many out-dated/redundant stickies and announcements at the top of the Users board... any chance that some of them can be removed/made non-sticky?

We don't need stickies saying that the forums are down til dec 5 anymore, or that shatters.net is resurrected, and I dare say the FAQ/user guide threads can be consolidated at least (but the Forum Guidelines should be kept as a sticky, definitely)... would it be better to put these things on their own dedicated web pages rather than on the forums?

But right now, the top 12 messages on the board are stickies, and that takes up a good chunk of on-screen real estate. There's got to be a more efficient way of making this information available, surely...

And also, if Selden's now out of action as a moderator, can someone else please step up for the job? If Chris is too busy to deal with this sort of thing then it would be good to have someone else be able to deal with keeping the forums sane and tidy.

I agree with the idea of a replacement moderator until Selden is well again, it would make Chris' job easier, and leave more time to work on improving Celestia itself. I wouldn't be surprised Chris is thinking about the idea of a replacement moderator as well.

I've cleaned up some of the stickies and announcements, leaving just the ones that I think are still relevant.

Thanks, that's taking up considerably less on-screen real estate now... :)
