Linux compile problems

I'm trying to compile Celestia on my hp PentIV laptop
running Red Hat 7.3, and running into two problems.
First - while running configure, the script sees all the
required packages (it seems), but I get one error -
'checking for gdk_gl_query in -lgtkgl ... (cached) no
configre: warning: Disabled GTK GUI because of missing
necessary packages'

The program compiles and runs, but I don't get the gui
interface (suprise, suprise).
Also - when Celestia starts, I get a
"Parent body 'BD - 10 3166' of 'b' not found."

The big question is, I can't figure out what's missing that
the program can't find. I've got gtkglarea 1.2.2-10-
isn't that what it's looking for here, or is there something
else?

Thanks for any pointers that you can send my way.

If you have installed gtkglarea after your first attempt to run "./configure", you should delete the file "config.cache" from the celestia source directory. Since RedHat 7.3 comes without gtkglarea, this could very well be the problem - also hinted at by the "(cached)" in
'checking for gdk_gl_query in -lgtkgl ... (cached) no
For an explanation of the
"Parent body 'BD - 10 3166' of 'b' not found."

error, it's said to be a typo in one of celestia's files (not fatal); have a look at the recent topic concerning celestia on freebsd.
