Hi everyone,

i just put a preliminary STC-Guide for Celestia 1.4.0.pre? online. Its basically my old guide, just enhanced with explanations of the new features, as far as i konw about them. Since it is only a preliminary version you can find it at my homepage under
http://home.arcor.de/christianlenz/downloade.html

And as i finished it yesterday i saw that i forgot to ask about the new nomenclature for the subtypes of white dwarfs.
So how is that realized? If someone (probably selden us usual  ) could give me some info about it?

And also if i write some nonsense or forgot some really important thing feel free to tell it to me.

Regards,

Guckytos

Guckytos,

A few quick comments:

You left out Epoch and LongOfPericenter from your initial list of orbital parameters, although you did describe them in detail later.

The spectral classes that Celestia recognizes are defined in the source code files "stellarclass.h" and "stellarclass.cpp", which are on SourceForge at
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/celestia/celestia/src/celengine/stellarclass.h
and
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/celestia/celestia/src/celengine/stellarclass.cpp

Hi Selden,

thanks for the comments, i was not quite sure if all the parameters were supported and just mad a copy and paste from Adirondacks guide.
Will include the parameters in the next update of the guide.

BTW: Do you know if the Radius of a star is also a changable parameter? I think i read it in some post, but am not sure about it anymore.

Regards,

Guckytos

Unfortunately, Radius is ignored in pre5.
I think Chris is planning to make it work in a later prerelease, though.

Is there going to be a Temperature parameter?

----

Slightly off-topic but why not implement rotation periods of the pulsars in the extrasolar.stc file, and why not the white dwarf component of the 1620-26 system?
