Radeon 9600SE and Eclipse Shadows

Just to share the information,
I have a Radeon 9600SE on a Shuttle SB61G2 with 1Gb RAM and Windows XP Pro sp1. I have the very latest ATI drivers installed. Whenever I select "eclipse shadows" on the render menu, my machine hangs immediately.
Does anyone know what's going on?
