Some information about me

I'm posting this forum because I want people here to know more about me.
The first time I used this program was 2 years ago. When I used it for the first time, I became very happy. Then, when I discovered that people can create your own systems and make new addons, I started to create my first systems. The textures of my first systems were odd and badly done.
After some time, I started to create better textures and now I know how to create my own textures. All my textures are in dds format, because dds format spend less time to load textures in Celestia.

I'm here in Celestia because I only want to add my addons. All or most of my textures are customized. I only want to give some ideas to make Celestia a better program.

About Rabud system: Sorry for that, it's because I put textures in HIRES folder and in DDS format. Sorry for that, but before I wasn't expert in creating addons. Now, that I know that not all computers or systems can read in DDS format and in HIRES folder, i'm going to create a better version of Rabud system with textures in MEDRES folder and in PNG format. The new Rabud system will have smaller textures for all computers can read it.
I'm also creating a bunch of new systems that will have textures in PNG format and all will be in MEDRES folder instead of HIRES. All my new systems will have scriptings describing all planets and moons. The planets will have 4096x2048 texture resolution, moons will have 2048x1024 resolution and asteroids will have 1024x512 resolution. All in png format.

About alien voices: I just only want to show them because I want your opinion, if you liked them or not, and depending of your decision, I will put at least some of them in my next addon.

I will also try to make two versions of each addon. One of the versions will have smaller textures and the other version will have bigger textures. Also, all of them in PNG format and in MEDRES folder.

And remember, I only want to be friendly with all people here.

That's good! :)
I have two suggestions on how you might avoid trouble:
1) Don't make posts that have no obvious connection to Celestia. People get annoyed that this wastes forum space, and takes up their time looking at posts they find irrelevant.
2) Don't make posts demanding a response to something you've posted or asked previously. If people haven't commented they're either not interested or feel they have nothing useful to say. You'll only annoy them by nagging.

One thing that may be useful is to know roughly how old you are (We don't need an exact age, but it may help some people to deal with you better if we know whether you're still at school, or if you're at university, or beyond that). Another thing that might be useful to know is your educational background - have you studied science or astronomy? That would help people explain things to you better.

I do think you need to understand a few things about etiquette on forums like this. It is probably obvious to you that some people have found some of your posts annoying :). I don't think you're being deliberately annoying but you should understand that there is a certain etiquette on these boards that users are expected to conform to. There aren't any hard and fast rules (yet) but I think you should follow the guidelines below:

1) Please use informative subject lines. "Please read this!" is not a good subject line. That's the sort of thing that annoys people - it makes the post sound more important than it really is. A better subject line for this post would have been something like "Some information about me" or something.

2) Accept that people may not be interested in what you post. You don't need to - and indeed you shouldn't - keep posting the same thing over and over in different threads on different boards, and you also should not post messages saying "why hasn't anyone commented on this"? That doesn't help at all ;). It seems to me that you're a bit of an attention-seeker, and that really isn't going to endear you to people here. Just post something once and leave it at that.

3) Be patient - don't be so demanding :)! I can appreciate that you're enthusiastic about Celestia, but the fact is that there are many features that people would like to see in Celestia but only a few people programming and developing the program - ultimately it's up to Chris what makes it into the code. Sometimes you have to accept that something you think is a good idea isn't considered the same way by other people. It's OK to try to argue the case for a request (like your greenhouse effect addition), but if you get a negative response then just accept that and drop the subject.

4) Post material that is appropriate for the boards. Take a good look at what's posted on the boards before you post anything. You'll notice that this board (Celestia Users) is for discussion that is generally related to Celestia itself - that includes praise for the program, feature requests, general requests for help, etc. So long as you post something along those lines here, then you'll be fine. But be sure to read the FAQ and the other sticky threads first.

The Purgatory board is (I think) more for off-topic chatter (you should however post any queries about Physics or Astronomy in the Physics and Astronomy forum). If you keep the off-topic stuff - ie things that aren't directly to do with Celestia - to that board, then you shouldn't end up annoying people. You should also realise that most people come to these boards to talk about Celestia, not to chatter about other things. I suspect that there aren't a lot of people who really read or post to the Purgatory board anyway (I don't even look at it myself) - so if you post something there and it doesn't get commented on then just leave it at that.

If you understand all that, follow these guidelines (and don't get so excited ;) ), then I'm sure you can be part of this community. You just have to think more about what you say and how you say it here if you want people to accept you rather than complain about you. Don't be put off by people who complain about you - but at the same time do realise that you have been coming across as annoying to some, and you should try to correct that. I am certainly willing to be patient with you, and I hope most other people here are too.

Thank you for your information. After reading that, I modified the "Please read this!" to "Some information about me". I will try to be more patient.

I think some other people here need to learn to be more patient too. ;)
I certainly don't want to see people driven away from here by a hostile reception (whether it was justified or not).

Ah, and another thing I want you know about me is that I don't understand physic calculations too much. I'm at school and I have 17 years. I'm interested in astronomy since child, since I read encyclopedias and some books about planets and stars. Also, since child I always draw in paper my own systems in different types of stars. As you see, I love astronomy, and since I discovered Celestia, I'm always creating my own systems in computer intead in papers. Only when I have to travel is that I draw planetary systems in papers.
I like to create new types of planets, like sulphur based life biosphere planets, and earth like planets, but with bigger radius and mass and a higher air pressure, turning the color of atmospheres to a green/yellow color instead of blue.
I also like to create planets with high or low temperatures, like a planet with high eccentric orbit, that in the windy the temperature permit the water to be in liquid state ( about 283K ) and in the summer, the temperature is higher than the boil point of water ( about 415K ).
Or planets and freezes only in the windy.

My computer is a Pentium 4 1.7 GHz, 512 memory RAM, Windows 98 SE, GeForce FX 5200, the audio is SoundBlaster Live Value, I have a 786 cable speed internet. That's why I use dds texture format in Hires folder and use CMOD models. I don't have ANY problems with them. The only problem is that my computer don't read 8192x4096 and bigger textures in dds format.

These informations are not only to you, but for all people that want to visit post and want to know more about me.

If you like them yourself, just use them. It doesn't make sense to judge about an isolated part that might make a completely different impression if used in a certain context. You can't expect the forum members do be your design advicers - at least not in the forehand ;).
I'm always interested in addons that try to include audio data.

Depending your posts, it is contraproductive to repeat yourself all over. I for myself take at least a short glance to every new post in the forum
- exept OS-X and Linux compile problems related :) -
via the 'View posts since last visit' link. So seeing the same issue over and over just will force me starting to skip posts from user 'kikinho' instantly.

kikinho,

I for one have been where you were when I first started Celestia...I was enthusiastic about the software and was one hell of an attention seeker...I still like it sometimes as does ANYONE! (if you say no to this your a liar :P) Chris is even an attention seeker otherwise whats the point in all this right? The main difference is in how you approach it....Its in the way you present yourself...I for one tend to get frustrated sometimes and try not to show it when I post for an answer to a question but it happens....The best way to curb any inpatience is to do something and let it ride for a while...To look at it as your creation and ask yourself does it impress you? Can you do better? If so then it should be no suprise if others feel the same way...That way you come into a critisism with the feeling that no one will probably like it as much as you...And you will be 100% right...

You should NEVER do anything for the sole purpose of pleasing someone else...You should do EVERYTHING for the sole purpose of enhancing your abilities and progressing further and further each time...learning from each mistake...I used to use textures already created by others and change the colors when I first did Celestia just to get the feel of the program and how it works...I see that you used Lunar Cell for the most part...That is ok...I think in order to impress people you have to come up with something that they have never seen before...Something they know must have come from the subconscience...the center of all primal thought...and of dreams...Runar here is a perfect example of this...Hes just starting out and by no means knows eveything...just like me...I have a hell of a time trying to do astrophysics and trigonometry...but Im learining...One way I wing it is I use common sense tactics...I f a planet is such and such distance it will follow these guidelines etc...Say a fictional star that is green in color...I being the first to invent such a beast am to blame I suppose for its phantasic existance...but all in all I have my basic science about it as its based on an alien gasl composition and is close to a G class star...The alien gas is what causes the spectrum of light to emit more green than yellow...In science there is no gas that would emit green light under the massive pressures and heat of a star...A class stars would it has been said but this comes out to be white not green...of course I might be wrong in that statement...

I think your best bet when you release an addon is just to release it and if no one downloads it or comments on it...oh well...maybe next time...

Peace.
