problem with eclipse

When a moon cast a shadow on a planet, the planet becomes very dark and only two circles of light appear. At the intersection, I can see the eclipse. With 2 eclipses at the same time the planet is almost completely dark.
Why this ? How can I find a work around ?
(I run celestia v1.2.4 on windows XP)
