No Eclipse Shadows

Post #1by CelestiaFan » 07.06.2002, 22:01

Hi, I just downloaded the all new Celestia 1.2.4 and there is a problem. When I enable the Eclipse Shadow features, they dont even show up. Any chance that anyone knows what I can do to fix this problem?

Thanks!

Make sure you are actually getting this problem, because they can be deceptively difficult to see. Press H then 5 then G to goto Jupiter, rotate so you have a good view of its lit face, and press L several times to speed up time. Watch it for a while and you should see black dots whizz across the Jovian surface. These are the shadows of the orbiting moons.

If you don't see these black dots, then ask someone more informed than me :O)

The shadows of the moons aren't appearing on the planets, any chance how I can fix this? On the closest moon Amethea in Jupiter, I can see it shadow up when jupiter hits the sun and the moon goes dark, but the other moons I can't see the shadow at all from Jupiter in front of the sun. Plus the shadow on the planet itself isn't even visible. Any chance of fixing this?

Thanks
