A thought

I had a couple thoughts I wanted to throw out there. has the idea of semi transparent tool bars ever been brought up? example... while running celestia, you could place commands in your toolbar, like orbit selected object, track, follow, or even pre set speeds. and whenever you want you could just go over and click it, rather than rightclicking the target and having to scroll through the menu. The semi transparency of the toolbars would look better than a box on the side of your screen. also, can scripts be exicuted ingame? say a script is writen to spin around 180 degrees, target a certain planet and then acelerate to a certain speed. maybee these scripts could be ran by just going over to the new toolbar and clicking. I dont know much about writing scripts or if it is even posible to script manuvers like that, but thought it was worth metioning.

Hi wasj,
I don't see much need for a semit-transparent toolbar since Cleestia has command keys. You can press Y for sync orbit etc. I think any toolbar would be a distraction from the view and while the command smay seem cryptic at first, you will get used to them. Also any script can be run in game. In Mac OS X, you want to copy the script to the clipboard and use the paste command (apple-V) although I am sure the process is similar in Windows. Hope this helps.

Joe
P.S. Could you use more specific subject headers, like "Transparent toolbar" instead of "a thought"? Thanks.

The idea is to acctually give the option to place those key comands on screen, some people arent good with keyboards! I tryed to teach a few friends how to use celestia and they were turned off when realizing they had to memorize all those keys. I personally turn out all the lights while exploreing celestia, and cant see the keyboard, I look down to do something and have to strain to see it. Imagine a extra button on the toolbar at the top of the screen called commands. When you click that button a list of commands comes down, you could then run the command from there or select the ones you wanted and drag them to your onscreen toolbar. Place only the most popular commands in it, the ones you use the most or whatever. also, Im not talking a big toolbar, just really small on the side or bottom of screen out of the way, and when you press v to remove the text the toolbar would hide to. Even if there wasent a onscreen toolbar I think the list of comands could be cool.
