I've created an ftp server on my computer so those looking for add-on's and extra’s have yet another source.

I thought I'd contribute in this way since I had so much trouble finding and accumulating this data myself.

My computer (24.118.253.80) is behind a firewall so if you could give me your ip address via email, I'll grant you access thru it as well as give you the username and password you'll need to get in.

My email address is: norm.shaw@comcast.net

Explanation of directories:

backups - You'll find complete full zipped or rar backups of the c:\program files\celestia directory. The higher the number the newer the backup. I started using rar since it compresses better and so I can still fit the backup on a cd... celestia4.rar is 668 mb.

docs - Accumulated documents.

extras - This consists of zips of many of the individual directories found in my extras directory... for those not wanting to or needing to download one of my backup files.

misc - Miscellaneous zipped files .

missingShaders - These are the 4 fp shader files missing from the pre8 release used for nVidia video cards.

releases - Releases... I only have the one pre8 one in there.

scripts - Assorted scripts.

tools - Assorted dds viewers and conversion tools.

virtualTextures - Many different VT's

Hi Norm,

Thank you for providing another source of material.

Have you seen Joe's Celestia Add-On Catalog? ...

Yes, I have., thanks for mentioning that one. It was probably my most used source... I downloaded many of the things I have from there. But some things were not possible to get thru his site due to links that no longer existed... particularly the Sci-Fi Star Wars and Star Trek models and textures. I found them from other sites and since I don't exactly remember where I got them, I thought I'd make available what I've collected.

I tried eMule and found it to be a real pain... very slow. Took me days to download some things.

Anyway, since I leave my machine on all the time all one needs to do is send me their IP address in a PM or an email, and I'll send them the username and password for access. I don't have the fastest link up, 240 kb/s but it's pretty steady.
