I thought I'd try the MesaFX alternative to OpenGL to see if it worked better on my Voodoo3 card. It does, and it doesn't. It gives me a full-screen picture, and runs much faster, but Glide *only* works full-screen, which causes some problems.
When I have Celestia running full-screen this way, I can't use the menus (which doesn't surprise me) and I can't see the cursor (which does surprise me).
I'm trying to figure out what behavior is due to MesaFX and what is due to Celestia. How is Celestia *supposed* to work in full-screen mode? Do you normally see the menu bar at the top, or only when you move the cursor up there? Does the cursor work any differently in full-screen mode? Do the context menus pop-up when you right-click?
On a side note, I tracked down in the Windows Registry where Celestia keeps track of what full screen mode you want to use. Could someone tell me how to translate this? I'd like to be able to change it manually.
Full Screen Mode 0x00000004 (4)
Also also, is there any way to select alternate textures with a keyboard command rather than using the right-click context menu?
