Hello everybody

For those who aren't quite sure of
1- what the 'follow', 'chase', 'lock' and 'synchro' modes are really doing
2- what 'moving one's camera' really means in Celestia
3- what 'moving' oneself in Celestia'space really means...
for those who intend
4- to write 'scripts' to plan trips and sight-seing somewhere in space
5- to know a bit more about the different coordinate systems available in Celestia
and
for those who are just curious ...

>>>>> I suggest you have a look on my new pages at:  http://ralph.buisson.9online.fr

where you'll find somme information, documents, diagrams and eventually ActiveX diagrams on these subjects.

It took me some time to decipher all those mysteries :? ,and as time is so precious in our days...
Please share my experience  .

Hello Jean Pierre Buisson,

Thank you very much for tackling this tough topic! I was very excited to dig-into it, until I found your web site to be only French.

Your English seems quite good, so I was wondering if there will be an English version of your web pages in the future? I would LOVE to have a better understanding of the coordinate systems in Celestia, but the Google French to English translation is not very good. Maybe there is a better web page translator you could recommend?

Thank you.

Hello Don,
Glad to meet you: my first insight in this quest was your own pages on the subjet !...
so I thanks you too!

Yes there will be a translation of thoses pages:
1-when I am quite assured of the exactitude (?) of what I wrote!
I am actualy waiting for any return from the developper team of Celestia, or any user who can confirm or deny...
1-when I have time to do it (in french I use to type with only two fingers, but in English I do think only with one!! )

Et pourquoi crois-tu que je poste peu, que mon site est peu compl?t?/actualis?, hein?
I have no time to refresh my pages, I've just added some pics and links for BCelestia's B5' models (SF/B5 chapter) and Jestr's great new comets models (Syst?me Solaire chapter) (no, no i don't try to write the correct 'ChuChu' name  ) today...
But when I will able to, I'll had new pages, especially those with manuals etc... and yours will be linked, 'Oeuf Corse'!
Nice stuff, Jean-Pierre
Bienvenue

Unfortunately, there isn't much to learn from them :( which is why I am excited to spend some time on your pages. There are several (maybe many?) non-astronomer-types, like me, suffering in silence trying to figure out Celestia's "frames of reference" (coordinate systems) to be able to use the related commands properly in scripting.

Would you mind if I added a link to your pages in the Cel Scripting Guide?

Thank you. This is very good news. :D I hope some of the experts here will read through your work and verify it.

Have a good weekend!

Hello Jean Pierre,

Ouch, my head hurts! 8O

On the camera page, could you provide some example script commands to demonstrate how the variables in your diagram relate to the scripting command parameters? For example, angle, axis, offset, and base.

Thank you very much.

Sure, no problem of course...

I understand quite well what you say; (as I mentionned at the end of the camera page: there MUST be precise links...)
The problem is that I haven't got ANY experience in Script Writing as of today: this is now my new and second quest toward Celestia promises!
In other words I would appreciate if somebody(ies..) WITH experience on the subject could tell me what HE thinks on the links between the various 'parameters' of the 'scripting commands' and the one I mentionned in my 'paradigm':It will make my own job easier, and will shorten the delay to complete (or modify?) my doc and to update it to you.
Sort of Ring of competences(?fr)..
? suivre!
