"To install, copy the .3ds files to Celestia's "models" folder, the .jpg textures to the "textures>medres" folder, and the .ssc file to the "extras" folder. Use the 2 orbital (atlantis.3ds and atlantis_cargo_open.3ds) models as you wish, but the Atlantis model at launch should appear at the location of the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida."

The install was made as shown above; however, the atlantis_cargo_open.3ds would not open. Does anyone have any ideas as to why.

Also, how do I launch at the location of the Kennedy Space Center.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, that was my model I think...

If you type in "Atlantis" you should be able to tab down to the one at KSC, just G for goto it, and you're there. It doesn't actually launch though, it just sits there..

How do you mean it "doesnt open"? Have you tried editing another earth orbit ssc and seeing if you can substitute this model in place of another? Also, you could try opening the file with anim8or (http://www.anim8or.com) to see if its just corrupted. In this case, it might be a good idea just to download the zip file again.

The zip file contains 3 models of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, with the cargo bay closed, open, and a model of it at launch. Zip also includes an ssc to place the launch model at the Kennedy Space Center. You can use the orbital models whatever way you want!

Is there anything special I have to do in order for the cargo bay doors to open. All files were loaded based on the install.txt.

The file I loaded are:
atlantis.3ds
atlanti_cargo_open.3ds
atlantis_launch.3ds
Cargo.jpg
Jack_atlantis_launch.ssc
patina.jpg

Your effort & time spent in supporting Celestia is greatly appreciated.

Um.. Well.. When I was making that zip, i never got around to making the ssc file to place the shuttle (with cargo bay open/closed) in orbit.

You might just be better off to get bh's versions of the shuttle, which are much more developed versions of my models, which I got off (I think) fsgregs originally. His site is at http://www.berasan.com/celestia/bhshuttle.html

Don't worry about my ones, they don't have anything bh doesn't have in his!
