Instructions advise to unzip the dowloaded file in the main Celestia folder.
Instead of doing that is it ok to stick with the origianl subfolder structue that came with the Celestial progam. In doing that I would place all
ssc in Celestia extras; 3ds in Celestia models; jpg in Celestia / textures / medres.

Usually the addons which say to unzip into the main folder contain folders within themselves. When you expand them into the main folder, they install their components into the appropriate folders.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
A problem with mixing your addons into Celestia's own directories causes complications when you upgrade Celestia. That's why the "new" directory structure had to be created. Also, if you have addons which happen to use the same filenames, you can only use one of them.
