joystick problem

Whenever i use my joystick in celestia ive noticed that when i try to move up or to the left the camera will move to fast. Im using a microsoft sidewinder. when I go down or to the right I can barely move the joystick and the camera moves real slow, the further i move the stick in that direction the faster the camera moves. its like up and left will not do the slow movements, it will just jerk once the stick is moved so far. The problem is not the joystick, i went through the recalibrating and all that and tryed 3 different joysticks, all doing the same thing, and they work fine on other games and programs. Anyone have this problem? anyone know how to fix/adjust it to work properly? Thanks

I have noticed the same problem with my two joysticks as well and have concluded that the problem is with the program itself, which I dont think can be fixed any easy way unfortunately.

Would both of you mind reporting the following information, so a bug report can be entered into the system?

* Operating System & version
* Celestia version
* Brand / model of joystick
* Type of joystick device (USB, etc.)
* Joystick driver version

Thank you. Every little bit of information helps. :)

I see similar symptoms: speed of rotation is significantly faster in one direction than the other. In my case, motion is still easy to control: it takes slightly less than 2 seconds to do a full 360 in one direction, about 4 seconds in the other. I don't normally use a joystick, so I didn't notice it before.

Both Celestia v1.3.2pre5 and Celestia v1.3.0 final show the problem.

Joystick:
Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro
(USB connection)

Windows XP Pro SP1
Default XP drivers

Thank you all. A bug report has now been submitted to the SourceForge Bug Tracker. I've never tried Celestia with a joystick myself as I don't have one installed on this box.
