Post #1by Darkmiss » 17.02.2004, 16:08

Hello Chris
unless you already have somthing ready to go somtime soon.
Is it possible you might have an updated 132P1 replacment exe
with the fix for the spacecraft orbits crash bug. ?

just until your next update.

As I really like the new features of 132P1 but keep forgetting somtimes and crashing my computer.

I'll try and get something ready later today . . . I added a lot of new code last night, and I want to do some more testing before I build the prerelease.

Thanks mate.
looking forward to it :)

Id get very lost in Celestia looking and playing arounds for an hour or two
doing this and that, then id go and turn on the orbits for some reason..

and POW back to my desktop :(

sort of like someone turning off the projector half way through a really good cinema film.

I've uploaded a new prerelease:

http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files/ ... .2pre2.exe

The orbit paths bug is fixed. I'll write more about the other new features later--right now I need to get to bed before I fall asleep on my keyboard.

Cheers for putting in the long hours Chris...
...however when I try to run this, Windows is immediately 'encountering a problem' and the program is crashing.
Anyone else having this problem ?

regards

Yes: Celestia v132pre2 draws only the outline of its window and then crashes immediately.
I suggest people not waste Shatters.Net's bandwidth downloading this version. :(

So much for the late night releases . . . I had forgotten to delete some experimental code that had introduced a dependency on an old image file. That file happened to be present in my old install directory, so the package ran fine when I tested it on my system. From now on, I'll make sure to delete the old install directory before doing a test installation.

Anyhow . . . here's the new package:

http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files/ ... .2pre2.exe

If you've got the broken 1.3.2, you can just get a new EXE:

http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files/ ... e2-exe.zip

(The new EXE will probably work if you're upgrading from 1.3.2pre1 as well, though you'll miss some of Grant's updates to the data files.)

I haven't even tried it myself, but here is a mirror (the pre1 is now gone from my site):
http://www.h-schmidt.net/celestia/celestia-win32-1.3.2pre2.exe

Considering the load on shatters.net, this may be faster for many people.

I've just had look at Celestia using the corrected 1.3.2p2 exe, and it seems to be fine. It's nice to see all the orbits displayed again. :D

Not only that, I don't know whether it's my imagination, but Saturn seems to have much darker and well defined ring shadows. :D

I also have good ring shadows on Neptune too, using 'bright-neptune-rings.png' :D

I've tried taking a few images, and have had no scrambled results, when I moved the menu box.... :D
....and the 'ghost image' of the menu box has not appeared in any of the images I have taken without moving the menu box, and that's with Galaxy rendering on too. :D

So far, so good :D ......

added later
......Oh oh, see bugs :(
