Feature Request--Stellar Labels

Greetings.

I've reached a point in Celestia where I'm trying to explore the closest stellar systems to Sol to discover their points and relativity to our Sun. Could you implement a labeling system attached to the "Mark" function? What I mean is of those stars I mark, It'd be easier if they had labels when I marked them (that I can see from any angle).

Thank you, --Starman

Yes; this would be really useful for the sort of maps we need in OA;

Is it possible to put locations in empty space, or just choose stars which will show up at a range of distances?

This is a map I have made using celestia and paint, but I have to find each star individually (except the very bright ones which show up anyway).

It would be nice to have these labels visible while running the program.

Celestia/celestia.cfg includes a list of starnames that should be displayed when you select "Render" "View Options..." "Label Stars". They can be names that are listed in Celestia/data/starnames.dat or ones that you've added using STC catalog files.

Use "Render" "View Options..." "Filter Stars" to limit the distance to which stars are drawn.

You can place labels in space using a DSC catalog's "OpenCluster" or "Nebula" definitions. Those labels are drawn if you select "Render" "View Options..." "Label Galaxies".
