Anyone know where I can get a virtual Mars program? I am refering to a program where one can fly over the terrain of Mars
accurate made from the MOLA data. There is an English fellow
who started one and looks great but he never finished it.
Thanks

Yeah,
It's called "Celestia."
If you're looking for accurate maps of Mars to use with Celestia, try Mario Rossi's site at
http://www.space-graphics.com.
Hope that helps.
Take care, Bob

No, That's not what i meant. I mean a program with a map
you can fly over but also into the valles marinas. It would be a 3d map. Hope I explained it better.

Sorry...
Mis-understood what you wanted to do. That's okay though... I'm just a thick-headed jerk!
Ask anybody... Don? Grant? Jestr?
Take care, Bob

I have adapted the models of a few bits of Mars that are to be found on the Space-Graphics site.they are quite detailed but it is slow going in Celestia. If you want it you'll have to download from my FTP site
ftp://celestia:addons@81.111.74.239
look for 'Earth&Mars models.rar'.It has Valles Marineris,Olympus Mons,Im not sure what else, and the whole Earth (not very detailed).Cheers Jestr

Look up a programme called 3DEM. It's a free elevation model visualisation tool and reads MOLA data among others. I can't remember where I got it from, but it was on every list of such tools when I was looking.
Now that I think about it I must try draping the Spacegraphics mars image over the MOLA terrain...
