DXT vs other formats and texture availability question

Hi,

Thanks to help provided in this form I have successfully managed to install the full Mars virtual textures provided on DBrady's site. They look wonderful and I'm now on the hunt for more like them. Could someone point me in the direction of the blue marble (or equivalent) textures, and any others that are available in this format ?

Also, am I right in noting that this tiled DXT format is the format of choice for high performance, hi resolution planetary textures - or is it not as simple as that ?

Many thanks,

Pluck

Look at http://exp.arc.nasa.gov/downloads/celestia/extras/, there is a file bm_vtex.zip which AFAIK contains a bluemarble VT.
