Hi all,

after Chris and Christophe implemented some further code for Unicode (utf8 - wgl4) name display with diacritics and local special letters, I converted my monster earth-Gazetteer.ssc locations file into UTF8 via Perl. Below is a taste how things look like now:

There is now also a neat completion scheme available in the CVS version that finds the towns also without all those accents typed in!

Any idea when it will be implemented in Celestia in full? I would like to have that font for the HUD(easy to read, nice looking)...

It is implemented in Celestia CVS in full. Version 1.3.2 will not be too long ahead, in case you do not know how to compile CVS. It is very easy to generate new fonts, in case you are just interested in those.

For people who can build Celestia CVS, I have uploaded my new earth-Gazetteer.ssc file with 42k international (UTF8) city/town name labels, looking like in the two examples above!

Note: It only works with the recent CVS version!

The importance weights are calculated from the population data such that the overlap of labels is not excessive anymore...

Have fun...
