Apollo Model by Shrox

Here's a model of the Apollo spacecraft created by Shrox, together with a .ssc file to place it in lunar orbit:

http://www.shatters.net/celestia/files/shroxapollo.zip

Many thanks to Shrox for the beautifully detailed model . . . He created this awhile ago, but not until version 1.2.4 has Celestia been up to the task of properly rendering it.

For those new to the whole add-on thing, just unpack this file in your main Celestia directory. This should add the file apollo.ssc to the extras directory and apollo.3ds to models.

Better Moon Map...

The Apollo looks great. The only thing is I noticed while in orbit
with Apollo close to the moon the lunar texture map looked real yucky.
Is there a better moon map somewhere? As you know I can fix
up anything.

I've got a 4k x 2k lunar map in DDS format that I used. It's in
http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files . . . If DDS format doesn't work on your card, I can give you a 2k x 1k jpeg that will--it's not as nice as the DDS, but much better than the 1k x 512 map that comes in the Celestia distribution.

Chris,

Is it possible to make the jpeg moon map more generally available for those of us with inferior graphics cards ?

Yes - I would love the higher res jpg for the moon. Can you put it up?
