I just have to say, what a beautiful program!!!

On another note, I am saving my pennies to get an LCD Projector, and make my own little hemispherical Omnimax. Has anyone tried this? There is various software to compensate for the distortion, but I don't know if it would apply to this. I am also experimenting with a fisheye lens to see how it throws the light - I'm using a 16mm film projector to try this-....I never claimed to be a pro.......

Howdy Terry,

And welcome to the Celestia forums! :D

It sounds like quite a project you're working on. Is this going to be a large dome, or a one-person kind of thing? I've not tried any projectors with Celestia, but maybe some other folks here have, like the teachers?

Best of luck with your project!

Welcome to Heaven, Trenner!!!

Hello, to you too don!

Yeah, that what it's sounds like to me. Actually sounds more like a
Planetarium! :o I'll bet that'll be an awesome sight once it's realized.

Let us all know how you make out Trenner. Maybe the Forum users can charter a tour bus to see your debut presentation!

Good Luck

Wow! Thanks for the response and support!
The Omnimax in Vancouver, B.C. is just about 180 degrees, and about 300 feet across (...a lot of us Canuks still have trouble with metric...) The projector is 70mm with two honking great lenses. I think the lamp is 15000 watts.
Since my house has only 8 foot ceilings, I'm a bit limited.....
I'll give a @#$% report as I "progress"

Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a really good high altitude plane for my FS2002 flight similator, so I can "seamlessly" switch from Celestia to FS2002, when coming down to Earth - I have "only" 16GB of free addons, compliments of http://www.avism.com!

Howdy Terry,

Wow, that sounds KEWEL! Do you work at the planetarium?

8O 16 GB of FS2002 add-ons?! Sheesh, and I thought there were a lot of add-ons for Celestia! Does FS2004 provide any better (higher resolution) close-to-ground graphics? FS2002 is pretty lame <sigh>.

Oh, and I think the URL you meant to type in was "avsim" instead of "avism", just in case anyone is wondering about it <smile>.

Please do keep us informed as to how your project progresses!
