Why hasn't this been worked on? It would make it possible to make 3d nebulas, galaxies, etc. I know there are particles for the galaxy, but they suck. Celestia needs a good particle engine, one that can simulate galaxy movement, collisions and other neat stuff. Wouldn't it be cool to actually fly through a nebula? Well, another thing to consider, this is a SPACE simulation right?

Yeah, that would be cool. I always hated the 2d textures and low quality models they have right now.

The source is open. Go write a particle engine.
