There is an irc channal set up for celestia users on irc2.peacefulhaven. net, and there is a web based chat for that room at http://www.peacefulhaven.net go to either java or cgi chat, put in a nickname and join a room

after that, type /join #celestia

there have been a few there, but we could and would like to see more people there, come on in

Have just been there ; not much going on at the moment. But stayed only for a few moments.

If you want to interact with people on an IRC channel, you have to stay logged into it all the time. There are few enough Celestia fans that very few are likely to be logged in at the same time, otherwise.

It's just like the various Instant Messaging clients in that way, although it's somewhat more inconvenient: if you don't have an IM client running, you can't participate.

(I don't participate in either any more: they're too intrusive. Sorry.)

I may be a Celestia n00b, but I think that the Celestia community could greatly benefit from an IRC presence.

IRC is a seriously good medium; there could be an updated database of projects and releases, a release schedule and maybe an XDCC bot or two if there's anyone with the extra bandwidth. AND obviously it affords relatively easy and immediate troubleshooting of Celestia related problems/bugs/queries.

Evidently, for such a thing to happen, it would require the support of the texture/model designers right down to the regular leechers and idlers.
Of course, I could be greatly over-estimating the size of the Celestia community... but I still think it could work. So STAY in the chan and help it grow.

Well i am connected right now and for the past 3 hours, the only user i've seen is LostEagle.

having a bit of trouble joining the celestia channel, i typed /join #celestia, nad its going to the page but its taking forever. now it is telling me that i cannot join that channel due to restrictions. strange....

I've tried it too..I haven't had any problems joining #celestia (I'm using mIRC client) but for now.. there are only one or two users connected and they not seem to talk so much...

well, i have to admit, im one of the non talkers, but then im not always at the keyboard.

Sorry for that folks, but the more people that get there the more people will be talking.

Right now, there is a problem with the servers, however the network is working on the problem

Is this close to being fixed yet?
