Right now Im looking at a blank page where my website should be...sql errors on the forums and in the hosted email server...Looking at all the other web hosts leave me feeling like Ive been raped by thier appaling prices for 2 gigs of server space...125 dollars was the cheapest...2500 dollars was the highest and most common...Im beginning to think Im getting what I pay for in this overpriced overtaxed economy right now...
Anyways...I dunno...If anyone has ideas on where to go lemme know...
btw Im currently hosted on aussiehosts.com
What are my options?
What are my options?
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!
One I just thought of is if this becomes too much of a hassle in the future I may have to mail whoever wants my addons on CD...Whoever doesnt want to give out thier mailing address would of course lose out and I for one dont like doing this as I dont trust anyone anymore...
But it may be the only option I have as my addons get larger and larger...I wont have the bandwidth to support most of them and I refuse to use anything lower than 2048x1024 sized textures anylonger as they look like crap...
Stupid technology needs to catch up with me dammit!

Re: What are my options?
Howdy Rassilon,
Sure sorry to hear about your web host / site problems.
Having large disk space requirements, like your 2 GB, does raise the price way up at most web hosting services, who are used to providing 100MB-500MB for Joe Schmoe's personal web site. That's why companies buy their own servers and Internet connections -- it's cheaper.
That being said, and using the necessary "Buyer Beware" phrase, some folks in a video editing forum I belong to use Simple Host and swear by it (in a good way ). Video files require a lot of disk space, so folks who want to share their video work are in kind of the same boat you are -- needing lots of disk space and a high monthly transfer allowance. I do not have any personal experience with this host, but it might be worth a look.
I do have experience with pair.com, which is where our personal web site has been hosted for years. They are well-connected to the net (good transfer rates), have a recently custom-built building, good maintenance practices, and our site is always "up". Never had to do a restore either (knock on wood). They do have high-volume accounts and also dedicated servers -- but they are not "cheap".
Hope you can find a good host!

Maybe it was just a temporary glitch?
Its been on this glitch thing for a week...started in my email...
I will see what happens but all in all I prefer my own server...as Im sure chris can relate to...Nothing beats having complete control over what happens at any given time than waking up one day to an empty http folder...minus the spript kiddies who ride the short bus...unfortunately nothing is hack free...
For now I havent access to a fast connection otherwise I would be running redhat and apache on a dedicated computer...You can bet your gonads on that one bucko
