I'm using Celestia 1.3.0 (Windows XP). I downloaded earth.ssc and put in the extras directory. However, even at a small distance from earth, I can't see any label of a city. What's going wrong?

Did you also activate the labels via the menue? Or toggled the '&' key?

Locations is a new feature in the 1.3.1 prerelease version, available at http://63.224.48.65/celestia/files/.

Please refer to http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20077&highlight=#20077 for a Description of Locations. Look for the section titled "How to use a Location File" for step by step instructions. This message also contain several locations where you can obtain Location .ssc files.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your answer. It works.
But now. I have different ssc files in the map extras. Are all this ssc files used at the same time? I downloaded the file with 8000 locations and also the file earth.ssc.
Toggling "&" works but what's the name of the associated label?

I'm glad. You are welcome. :)

Yes. What I do is to change the name of the file(s) that I do not currently want to be used. Such as from "location.ssc" to "location_ssc.txt".

Sorry, I do not understand this question. Are you asking what the "&" key is called? If yes, then it would be labeled as "Toggle Location text display", or something similar.
