Introducing myself and question

Hello, my name is Menno from The Netherlands. Just been using Celestia for a few days now and I think it's GREAT!! Indeed very addictive!!
But now I encountered my first real problem: I found a program called Globular Cluster Generator on http://www.celestiaproject.net/~rassilon/ ....
I understand the meaning of what the program does, but somehow I can't get the STC and/or SSC files that the program generates, to work in Celestia. I place them in the Celestia/extras folder and make the HIP name higher then the last HIP number in starnames.dat in the Celestia/data folder. But when I run Celestia, the HIP I created is just not to be found? What am I doing wrong?
I tried to add the HIP number in starnames.dat, but that also doesn't work.
Thanx in advance for any info!!!

Check and see if the stc and ssc files were saved as text files, if that is the case, then you need to convert em.

Granted i cheated, i downloaded an stc file and used it as a template.
windows is very picky sometimes.

Hope this helps

Mmmm, I found the problem: the program is saving the files with all comma's in the lines, while Celestia is only working with points in the lines. I think this is because the number notation here in Europe/Netherlands is with comma's ..... like we write $ 400,34 (400 dollar and 34 Dollarcents) but in the US it's written like $ 400.34 .... I think that if I set Windows to use the point as regular divider and not the comma, the prob is solved .... I hope this is clear what I am writing? English is not my native tongue :)

Problem solved ... it is indeed a point and comma problem .... but the STC and/or SSC opened in MS Word, there a "Search All" to the , comma .... the a "Replace All" with a point . .... and all works just fine now in Celestial :)

i had the same proble some time ago, and i solved it the same way: using the Replace all command in the Word.
