Stereoscopy: New functionality needed?

The split-window function in Celestia is awesome and I've already used it to achieve a nice *static* cross-eye stereoscopic effect. The thing is I can't figure how, or if it is possible, to hook keyboard and mouse inputs to both views simultaneously, which is necessary for *dynamic* stereoscopy.

In other words, it would be nice to have two views side by side with two properties: 1. Their points of view are just off from each other or perhaps different by an amount that is proportional to the distance to some target object, and 2. They both respond equally to navigation commands.

So far I can set the views up to be different by whatever small amount is necessary, but then I can control only one view at a time, which makes the experience of navigation in stereo impossible.

I believe this would be a pretty simple change to make. I'd make it myself if I didn't have my hands full with finding a job and finishing my thesis. And playing with Celestia. Doh! It just seems more efficient to let the author do it, since he already has Celestia all set up in his programming environment and can just jump in and make the changes.

This is already on the TODO list, well at least we talked about implementing it a while ago.

It will also allow to observe a planet with two different texture sets.

I am eager to use this feature. Tho, I prefer parallel view but I guess it is not a problem. Any idea when it is available ?

Would it be possible to also have a red/blue analyglyph type of stereo view in Celestia? (if you don't want to go cross-eyed...)
