purgatory

Hello everyone,
Seeing how this is a place of sober and scientific exactitude, the actual meaning of purgatory seems in need of clarification; according to the OED the primary definition is that of a place or condition of spiritual cleansing, secondly, it is a place or state of temporary suffering or expiation.
On this basis, those threads that are dispatched to purgatory, are not beyond redemption; they may indeed languish there awhile, all and sundry ridiculing them and adding insulting replies (this is the suffering bit).
However, if they are eventually found, for example, by extreme alcohol assisted lateral thinking, to hold some relevance to the sacred subjects of cosmology or astronomy, they could perhaps suddenly find themselves in a state of grace and salvation, perhaps restored to a different forum with many viewings and intelligent postings, even if they are as apparently off topic as Ridley Scott's unicorns. There is hope then, I 'm so glad of that....

regards,
ziggy

Hey ziggy:

thanks for your appropriate remarks that bear a definite relation to
my 'Unicorn' thread, "suffering" in Purgatory at present...

Historically, science and notably unconventional yet brilliant
new scientific ideas have often been put to "Purgatory" by the ruling
authority;-)...until truth and relevance was recognized much
later...

So I do confess, there was a plot behind that thread, to
exemplify this with a "joint experience": getting moved to Purgatory
because of an apparently irrelevant content at first...

This first step indeed already worked:

Celestia Users: Moved: Help! My Unicorn run away

Lets work on the second "resurrection" step now;-):

Purgatory: Moved: Help! My Unicorn run away

What better title could I have chosen...?

See you and the "Unicorn" in the 'Physics and Astronomy' department in
the near furture;-)

Bye bye Fridger

PS: Unfortunately, my plot was "sabotaged" by this upcoming
discussion on the movie-origin of my Unicorn image, which provided a "real"
reason to our ruling "authority" for Purgatory action;-)

The only conclusion I can add to the situation is that we are all responsible for our own actions weither it be Unicorns of Science or Purgatory dwelling threads...The simple conclusion is did it serve a purpose? If so what purpose was behind its initial creation? If it had a redeeming quality of bringing some good vibrations to the surface, how could such a thread 'belong in purgatory'? Is it truly 'sinful' to make someone smile ;)
