texture/models directory in celestia.cfg?

Post #1by Evil Dr Ganymede » 30.06.2003, 05:16

Right now, I've got all the extra bits I''ve added to Celestia in another directory, so I can uninstall old Celestias and reinstall updated ones without losing anything. I can change the default location of the extras directory that Celestia looks for, but apparently I can't do that for the models and textures directories.

So I don't know if this is already covered elsewhere, but in a future Celestia version would it be at all possible to be able to specify texture and model directories as well as the location of 'extras' in the celestia.cfg file?

Don't forget that Celestia looks in all the subdirectories under the extras directory for textures and models. For an example of one possible file organization, please take a look at http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/addon-intro.html

It shows the add-on directories under the default extras directory, but it should work just as well under an alternate extras directory.

Oh. Right. So I didn't have to copy all those textures and models into the default directories after all?! D'oh!!
