A few days ago I posted that I was having problems getting the program to work... I was able to get it working last night, the problem was that I DLed the wrong version of Celestia. I love the program and my dad wishes that he had it when he took astronomy 25 years ago.

Celestia would be grat for my Star Wars games... Has anyone done anyting for Star Wars useing Celestia?

I have a whole set of star wars planets, in my Celestia
Tatooine, Endor, Hoth, Degobah, Courasant, Yavin, yavin IV,
with orbiting moons, and a deathstar orbiting Endor.

the textures and code are far to big, for me to post them on my web site.
but ill try to find out where i got them from.

Question: do you have a video card that can view DDS textures
EG: Geforce 2 or above ?

You can find the complete add-ons for Star Wars at the website of BillyBob, one of the forum's major contributors. His web address is:

http://mikecelestia.to-j.com/downloadlist.htm

Enjoy.

PS Later tonight, I will be putting a new add-on onto my website that combines the Deathstar with a pair of tie fighters. You can get it at my webaddress link below.

Enjoy

Hi Guys:

My website is now able to handle bigger files so I will post the complete Star Wars add-on (at least for a while, till I run out of space).

ElPelado, did you say you have the Millennium Falcon as a working 3ds model? If so, I will place it in space if you like and post it also on my website. If that is OK with you, please e-mail the mesh to me. :)

ElPelado: my version has the following: Coruscant, Tatooine and its two moons, Dagobah, Naboo, Endor, Yavin and its four moons (including Yavin IV), the Death Star (orbiting Yavin IV), and Hoth and its three moons.
Now, this is just a "prerelease". I have like 20 something models of ships from both sides of the force. I am preparring to put them in orbit around specific planets, but they don't work with celestia because of 1) their textures aren't a power of 2, and 2) the textures arent set to be used from the textures/medres folder. If anyone knows how to change this, let me know.

I think that i have your Star Wars add-on. but i found some errors on it:
1)In the movie there was a gas gigant called Endor, and a moon, orbiting the planet, also called endor.
2)In the Return of the Jedi, the second Death Star was in a geostacionary(sorry for spelling mistakes) orbit around the moon Endor, because in that moon there was a shield protecting the death star, so the station had to be always in the same point.
3)the first Death Star was orbitin the gas gigant Yavin, and not the moon Yavin IV.

About the textures: in the falcon that i used, all the textures were in *.tga format and not in the "power of 2" format , so I converted all of them. and them using the HexEdit I edited the models. it worked very well.

OK, Mike, now I'm really confused. I thought you said in an earlier e-mail that your star wars download links down't work because they are too big. However, I just downloaded part 1 and 2 directly from your website. Have they become active again? If so, I don't need to put them on my website.

fsgregs: Yeah, I tried downloading them. It says it downloads fine, but if you open them their empty zip files.

ElPelado: I'll try to make those changes soon, but I don't know how I'm going to make the gas giant you talked about. Pretty much all of the measurements used in my file were found by scouring the net. So finding info about it will prove to be a challenge. Right now I can't really do too much because my cousins from the other side of the country are here, so maybe next week.

no problem, I'll be waiting!

also, I have put in starnames.dat(I'm using that add-on in an older version) the name "Star Wars" for that star. It's easyer than put everytime Hip and the number that i don't remember :)
