Guys,

There's no need to make fun. We all had to start somewhere.

waxman80014,

Celestia *is* a program.

First you have to download the program which installs Celestia.
(If you use a dialup modem. I'd suggest getting the "lores" version, which is about 5.5MB.)
When you run the installer program, it'll create directories and put a copy of Celestia, its libraries and its objects in them. If you want, it'll also put an icon on your desktop that'll run Celestia when you double-click on it.

Please read Frank Gregorio's User's Manual for Celestia. It describes all the details about installing it and running it. The manual is available in several formats: pdf, doc and html.. There are links to them all on shatters.net at http://www.shatters.net/celestia/documentation.html

One of the html versions is at http://teyssier.nerim.net/celestia/doc/

Does this help?

I haven't seen it myself, but apparently Celestia was on a TV show:

Shatters.net got pounded last week by people referred from this site . . .

Sorry, Jack: I misunderstood what you wrote.

Since you left out the rest of your sentence ("What is"), I thought maybe you were suggesting that is what waxman should do.

Chris,

Shatters is still getting pounded. traceroute was showing close to a second of delay getting theough the shatters gateway for most of today.

Sorry selden and waxman, my fault too. Sometimes I get a bit foolish...
But when someone finds this forum, I suppose it's pretty simple to find the download link too... and if he can register and post here, I assume certain minimal knowledge on computers (at least to the point of running a program in Windows).
I forgot to point at the documentation, however. My fault too again, sorry. Thx selden for that.

PS: and the Download link is present in the page chris points to...

jamarsa,

Unfortunately, for many people computers are still magic. They don't yet know anything about what goes on "behind the screen". Many are given a box that was ccnfigured by soneone else, so they have no idea what's involved.
