computer info problems
Hey, I just recently had an idea. People are always seeming to forget to post their information when they are having problems, right? So why not have everyone put all that info in their signature at the bottom of each post? Or make a seperate section of someone's profile where all that info would be kept.

Ooow, how bandwidth-wasteful... Also, my poor eyes having to filter all that information when it's irrelevant...

That would be a good one, except that you have to register first, and be aware that you need to fill that information in your profile in order to get help. Most of the people asking for help here are guests, and even if they have registered, they are too novice to notice that this information is relevant in case of configuration problems, so they will forget to fill that in the profile too.
I think things are more efficient as they are, asking for info when they forget to post it, even if it is repetitive and irritant...
I think it would be helpful to be able to provide the info in the profile.
It can help when you're trying to find someone who has hardware similar to yours so you can ask a question privately. Some people are just too shy to ask publicly.
Unfortunately, phpBB doesn't seem to provide this yet, which is a real puzzler. Several other Web forum packages do.
