how can i change the resolution of png format probably??

I have put the galaxy add ons in my celestia software,but the frame rates become slow,i have changed the resolution to 512x512 of the texture of galaxy which is a png format,but when i see that galaxy again,the background of that galaxy become white but not colourless,i find same problems about changing other galaxies texture and clouds of earth,mars too,how can i change the resolution probably??

You have probably used a simple image viewer for resizeing which supports no PNG-transparency. Try one of these programs:

- Adobe Photoshop
- Gimp
- Paint Shop Pro
- Corel Photo Paint

Another, much simpler program that preserves Alpha channel information is the program named "display" which is part of the free ImageMagick package. http://www.imagemagick.org

Of the programs that Jens recommended, only Gimp is free, and it is quite complex.
