Ok, lets all calm down a little

Ok, to start off, I have seen a lot of arguing lately, and well it has made me a little leery. We've already lost one great contributer (a.k.a. Rass.) because of some fight, and the last thing I think we need is to lose more people. I'm not saying you should stop debating, just try to relax things a bit and keep it more friendly, before it's too late.... again. That's pretty much all I wanted to say; so, responders, take it away:

I'm calm! I'm calm! See how calm I am!!!
;)

I expect we'll come to an equitable compromise
that makes none of us entirely happy. That's the way compromises are. But we'll be able to live with it.

Shit, is this true? It must have been off-forum, so mabey it is best left there.
I just thought Rassilon was on holiday or had lost his internet or something. His work is really good, and I was looking forward to making use of it in my project. If you're there Rass then drop me an emial or something.

Thats the thing about online communities, someone can be hit by a bus and no one will know what happened to them. They just dissapear.

As for arguing, bring it on, but do it on the forum where everyone can see. Let others decide who the dickhead is. (please excuse the language)

Hi all,

I have just read all this stuff about seeing what we know (not much in fact) or some more 'interpreted' picture.

I just want to give my point of view and make a suggestion.

I like both views depending on what I am looking for. Sometimes I like to see what we really know (and in fact don't know) and sometimes I like it more "interpreted & artistic", even with 2001 Space Odyssee add-ons on it. What I mean is that Celestia HAPPY :P users may use Celestia for many different reasons and purpose.

So here is my proposition/request : would it be possible to have both views in Celestia and to be able with for example a short key, to switch from a 'what we know" type to a "more interpreted - could be" type.

This could be something like the R/r feature thing.

Again, I am not a developper so I don't know if it will be a big work to do it or even if it's possible, but it would definitively be a nice feature for me.

In any case, I hope you all will all continue to developp Celestia and add-ons the wayS you do.

bye

G.

Hmmm, I was just thinking these days about how peaceful and friendly are here's folks, compared to the wars i was seeing in several of usenet groups lately.
Arguing is a good practice, althought it can become sometimes a bit hot and bitter. But that's no reason to stop arguing, as this is the way to improve everyone's point of view.
There is sometimes, however, someone who likes to throw stones in other's path, but the secret at resolving this matter is ignoring them.

I feel I'm not expressing properly at this, but don't feel puzzled for a bit of discussion. I think most of you are good and sensitive people, seeing the way you try to solve everyone's questions. Despite the short time I have been revising your forum, I look already at you as friends more than strangers.

I am outraged! This is just plain obnoxious! What is the freakin purpose of this forum if not to share opinions and facts?! If someone has an opinion and someone else doesn't like it, then leave it at that. Talk about it if you must but it immature to think: "Well, I'll just leave this forum community because someone doesn't like my opinion." Reality Check: You can't please everyone all the time! This is supposed to be a forum where ppl can talk (not argue) about things like Celestia among other things. 8O

Sorry, I made a post on another thread saying pretty much the same thing, a little later than you posted here - I hadn't seen your message when I started typing.
Seems like a good plan to me.

Hi grant,

no problem at all.

It could even be located on a new specific topic rather than in this one or the pluto one.
