I downloaded and installed Jack Higgins giotto. It works but there
seems to be a problem. On the solar system browser Giotto
is listed twice. thefirst works normally. Clicking on the second name will bring you
in another direction but to empty space. I checked and rechecked
everything was installed correctly. Anyone else having this problem
How can i get rid of one Giotto listing ?

There are 3 parts to the giotto ssc file: before the earth flyby, the xyz segment, and after the earth flyby. I think the flyby xyz runs for about 2 months in 1999- the first giotto only runs before that, & the second starts up after the xyz ends.

The reason for the 2 versions is to show how the orbit was modified by the encounter with the earth.

If you still really want to get rid of the first one, open up the giottoflyby-xyz-ssc file and delete the first set of elements.

If you really want to see this 'invisible' model, then go to its location as you were doing before and simply reverse and speed-up time until it appears.

The xyz orbit ssc for this particular model is only for a limited period set in the past, and does not exist in the current time- thats why you can't see it when you visit it with your time set in the present!
