Here's a view of the recent lunar eclipse with Celestia:

cel://SyncOrbit/Sol:Earth/2003-05-16T03:20:30.60177?x=tXpqJTF/une0DA&y=lwwctZGyKg&z=2BcE57+jcg8N&ow=0.206976&ox=0.697950&oy=-0.650426&oz=0.216733&track=Sol:Earth:Moon&select=Sol:Earth:Moon&fov=1.972040&ts=1.000000&rf=66819&lm=4

and the same view with a camera and telescope:

(You may need to adjust Celestia's magnitude limit to see the stars.)

If only the real sky were more like Celestia, so you could turn the clouds off!
