Istallation disaster!

Hello all... well I downloaded v 1.3.0 exe and installed... I now have a perfect virgin version of Celestia. All my work (about a year...gone!).
I'm not a happy easter bunny!

I made a new folder and installed to that, but, no! it installed over the old folder. I didn't back up my old ssc files and they've been overwritten.

I could cry... I will be asking you guys for help on getting NGC 1999 back up. I guess I'll just have to start over.

I'm not asking for any sympathy on this one , it's just a warning...make sure you back up your old version!!!

AAARRrrGGhhHH!!! and other unrepeatable stuff. You live and learn.

Regards to all...bh.

That's very strange I've never had any problems like that when installing a newer version...

Anyway- what addons have you lost? I probably have a good few of them...? i'm sure everyone will want to help out....!!

Thanks Jack... I'm really happy you guys are out there....

As far as I can acertain, I've lost all my solar and extra solar ssc files...gulp!

Stuff in the 'data directory' seeems OK.... I miss my bumpmapped Jupiter which I was going to share with you guys, but it'll have to wait.

I don't know if I like crl V" or not.

I have to cycle through this to get the Earthtexture to work properly...

And it does! I have to admit I *****ed up on the install and am paying the price for my ignoance.

The shallow water 8k seems to be working better and I'm happy about that.

Cheers Paul... yes I'm having some trouble getting NGC 1999 back. I've got all the textures and stc and ssc file loaded but still can't view the nebula.

As for the rest...it's getting there.

Can you help on this...I don't want to have to redownload the whole zip for this (around 30megs).

Regards...bh.

a) it's 40MB. If you only have 30MB that's part of your problem.

b) don't forget to apply the 1KB patch which has the three catalog files.

40 or 30..it's still a heavy download for a 56k modem.

The 1k patch? Have I missed something here?

evidently.

the link to the patch kit is right under the link to the main addon.

it contains three catalog files.
They should all go into the extras directory if you're still using that.

Selden...thanks...got the patch but still no luck...might try to figure this one out myself. Or not...It worked fine on the last version.

(Chris, the forum is hard work at the moment...I have to log in twice to log in...and the speed is well slow).

Well I got NGC 1999 to work, but it's not in the right place - still, at least I can view it now.
