Brand new models & xyz's for Celestia

Post #1by JackHiggins » 11.03.2003, 22:01

Hi all-
I've added a load more xyz files, and a model of j002e3 to my site! :D
It now features very accurate xyz's for:
Voyager 1 & 2
Pioneer 10 & 11
Contour Fragments A, B & C
Ulysses Solar Polar Probe
Galileo Probe
Object "neocp j002e3"
Stardust
Genesis

And my first attempt at a 3ds model, object j002e3, which is actually Apollo 12's 3rd stage. (It's better than it looks here)

I'm also working on a model of the pioneer spacecraft, but it could take some time...

The address is http://homepage.eircom.net/~jackhiggins/celestia/

All feedback appreciated thanks!! :D

Libration Points

Is there any way in Celestia to get good visualization of a libration point orbit, such as the one Genesis is in?

Lock Earth : Sol, centre on earth, and zoom out so it looks like this:

It tilts a bit with the earth's axis, but you get a good impression of the movement overall! :D

Jack,

A couple of quibbles:

a) your web site says the zip files include "everything". I suspect most of them don't include models. It'd be useful if there was a comment for each about the model status.

b) it'd also be useful if the file sizes were included on the Web page so people can decide whether or not they want to wait before actually starting a download.

Thanks!
Selden
