I've built another prerelease for Windows, which you can download here:
http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files/ ... .0pre3.exe
There are few changes from pre2, so it's not a worthwhile download for everyone:
- Axis and Angle parameters now work for nebulae
- Bump mapping with vertex programs fixed
- Recursive scan of extras directories for add-ons; this is the first step toward cleaning up the add-on mess
- 'Flash' highlight effect when switching views in multiview
- Real texture for Enceladus
Linux users: If you're interested in prereleases, just grab the source tree through CVS. You should have all the tools you need to build Celestia; if you need help, read the CVS docs at http://www.sourceforge.net/

Celestia prerelease 1.3.0
This release has slow down my display (computer) very much.
The former 1.3.0 release was working very smooth, this one doesn't react immediatly on the mouse movements and the screen update is very lazy and jumpy.

celestia 1.30 and a slow computer
The problem is with a slow and crashed computer are solved.
It seems that Celestia is now able to read any kind of directory in the "extra" directory. I've got one in there with about a half dozen of *.ssc files containing a huge amount of asteroides, nebulas, satellites etc.
By moving this directory to another place, Celestia is working fine again.

As of prerelease 3, Celestia recursively scans directories for .ssc, .stc, and .dsc files. When 1.3.0 is complete, I'll have to include a warning about this, as it sounds like people are hiding files the don't want loaded in subdirectories of extras. If Bruckner's 7000 asteroid .ssc is inadvertantly loaded, the slowdown can be shocking.

Just by the way, will the clipping problems be solved? I wanna mess around with Rass's V380 Ori and huge orbits.
