Can my computer support higher revolution of texture ?

P4 1.5 GHZ,384SD RAM,32MB TNT2M64 display card,can i use the texture of 4098x2048 of the planets in Celestia??Can my display card support the dds files??

Although you have a quite nice system concerning mem and processor, your videocard is definitely a bottleneck. Just try it, but i'd say 4k textures is the maximum you can handle nicely.

I don't think so. The TNT cards are pre DirectX 8 products so I don't it can work with them. I know Celestia doesn't use DerectX but the thats when Microsoft adopted the S3 spec on it and as such I dout its suport is there. I could be wrong but I think NVidia implemented .dds support when the GeForce series was born. But of course it can't hurt too try. Good luck.
