3rd Person view

I think that Celestia should be considered as a First person simulation.

This is an advantage for some aspects like intuitiveness. But I think that a lot of us feel the need to know better where we are during navigation.
Navigating in celestia gives me the sensation to don't have reference points and often gets me confused. I often use the orbits or celestial grid visualization to undestand in some manner which is the top and the down, where is the center of the solar system, if I'm rotated or tilted etc. But in this way the realism of images and the related emotions that I get are not the same.

I've listened that multiview is going to be implement so I'm asking if should be implemented a 3rd person mode view.

I think that having a small secondary window with a schematic representation of the nearby objects with references to ecliptic plane and/or other orientation references should be very nice.

Another example: when travelling through the stars I imagine that should be amazing to have in a secondary small corner window something like
http://www.solstation.com/map27ly.htm displaying a reference for galaxy plane/coordinates etc.

Another interesting application shoud be to view in a secondary window the trace of the trajectories of probes during flybys.

And more ...

3rd person views should be fixed: the position of the camera shoud be predetermined or determined by Celestia itself. Only the changing of FOV should be implemented.

I have a lot of other ideas about this argument. But first of all, what do you think about this?

Bye
