What is this and how can i select it in the program?

.dsc is the extension for "Deep Sky Catalog" . . . .dsc files contain definitions for galaxies, nebulae, and open clusters. However, they only work with Celestia 1.2.6; you won't be able to use it until 1.2.6 is released unless you compile Celestia yourself from the CVS tree.
