Hi,

What app is ok to edit standard images into spherical Earth texture ?

Can such texture be watched from inside of the Earth ?

Just visited Creating Textures for Celestia
http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/textures.html

2.1.3: Projection software.
http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/celesti ... html#2.1.3

which app is easy in operation
and can cut a file to fit pixel x pixel Celestia preferred size ?

Thank you John for your kind reply.

I plan to use Celestia and "from the inside of the Earth"
as a viewer for geolocations, earthquakes, meteor impacts on the surface

I tested basic Glimp manual drawing as a texture and it worked fine.

Ok, conversion of cylindrical to spherical coordinates requires special software
but there is no error in the azimuth (longitude)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azimuth

error is in latitude conversion.

Now back to my second question.
Can I watch such Earth's texture from inside ?

Keep in mind
I DO USE Microsoft Windows!!!!!!!! :)

The add-on Hevelius Constellation

Image

Is a view from the inside. A traslucent globe encompass the Earth.

Thanks for your kind replies.

I exactly need to develop a new textures for the Earth, populated with geolocated places for meteor impact, earthquakes
and view it (the texture only) from inside of the Earth ( from the centre).

To watch spherical texture of the Earth from inside of the Earth .

(not to watch a sky from inside of the Earth through transparent texture)

Sorry , if I was not exact.

You cannot have a stable view from the centre of the Earth because the pivoting upon a point.

Take a look below: a shelled sphere of the radius of the Hevelius constellation replace the Earth. The common Earth texture do map such a sphere. The texture is just flipped vertically: no need of changing cylindrical -> spherical mapping. If you use the pad arrow keys, the observer move left/rigt/up/down, thus should be like you see it from the center of Earth. I've left the stars and constellations just to show the concept. Maybe you do not have need that the 3D mesh's radius be precisely that of Earth; you spoke about a "viewer"; the views are the observer's rotations. You cannot see from the inside whether do use default Celestia's spheroids.

Thank you very much for your kind support.

Test now Gnuplot since spherical and cylindrical view is supported

http://www.google.com/search?hl=enl&gs_ ... 7AbpqoCQCg

To watch meteors via passive radio radar I process signals received via FFT and need to feed processed FFT stream + geolocation + Doppler
data to develop trajectory on-the-flow in cylindrical or spherical viewer , watching objects from inside of the sphere or cylinder.

Do hope Gnuplot supports such feature.
Since Gnuplot can process data on-the-fly, generate animation saved as animated gif.

So I would like the same saves slides to work for Slideshow Lua Add-on in Celestia.

Tried to contact Lua web tools developer Andre Naef
to integrate Lua Web Tools into Lua Add-on for Celestia ( support for web server)
- no response ;(

Planetarium HTML5 app for Firefox doesn't offer basic Celestia features for today

Please let me know your opinion .

I need to develop nice Meteor Passive Radar web server + web interface + live-view + on-the-fly generated meteor trajectories , viewed in
spherical or cylindrical GUI.
