Re: Venus Transit
Hello All,
I hope some of you managed to actually see the transit.
Would loved to have seen it, but a combination of cloudy weather, tall trees and a 200ft hillside rising due east from the end of my garden meant it was an impossibility.
I would have had a 1 hour window (approx) to see it, starting from sunrise at 4:45am BST, but the sun would only get to a maximum of 7 degrees elevation here in West Yorkshire before the transit ended.
Here's what it would've looked like using the standard Celestia 1.6.1 cel/URL link;
cel://SyncOrbit/Sol:Earth/2012-06-06T03 ... rc=0&ver=3
However In 2004 it was a lot easier to see. The sun was high enough for just about the entire transit to be visible, and it lasted for about 6 hours!
Here's the standard 1.6.1 cel/URL link from the same location here in West Yorkshire;
cel://SyncOrbit/Sol:Earth/2004-06-08T04 ... rc=0&ver=3
Cheers,
TERRIER
