Virtual Space

Celestia is very impressive, but like all these software astronomy programs it's just looking at a little picture on a computer screen. How much better it would be if we could have our own planetarium domes at home, perhaps worked off our home computers! I have written an essay about how this could be achieved, and posted it as a website. I don't know if I will be allowed to give the link, but here goes:

Virtual Space - the movies of the future

I have no financial or commercial interest in the subject - it's just something I would like to see happen and I am trying to spread the idea around as much as I can.

McGravity,

Modified versions of Celestia are already being used in planetariums and in 3D Cave environments. Unlike polarized glasses used with projectors, head mounted displays still tend to be rather heavy, low resolution and expensive. One can hope that future versions will improve on all three characteristics.

Yes, which is why I suggested using the video glasses which are already available. It would enable the design of the rest of the system to go ahead.
