Where is Comet Hale-Bopp?
I couldn't find this guy in the entire universe of Celestia

Grab this file:

http://www.shatters.net/celestia/files/comets.ssc

and install it in the Celestia's extras directory. You should have Celestia 1.2.3 in order to use this--1.2.2 and earlier probably can't handle the highly eccentric orbit correctly.
