Hello everything together. Here i am again. I have a small program, which me select which stardatabase I want to use in Celestia. Helpfully for testings, then I use the original database. I installed also still the other 2 stardatabases, but always to rename. :? . I assigned my brother to wrote a small Prog. The program looks in the DATA listing for Stars*.dat and lists these then, I can select one and Celestia starts by pressing the "Load" Button. Who would have theses little program (230KB) can write me by E-Mail. Mybe can someone place it on its server.
Sorry for my english  My E-Mail: graphics@geyer.km3.de

The prog must be placed in the root directory (where placed Celestia.exe) and if you use diferent Stardatabases then you have to rename these non-original in stars????.dat (only the first time you start these prog). Questions? Mail me.

David,

The software is posted at http://mypage.bluewin.ch/dro/celestia/celestiaload.zip

I have tried it, and he works fine.

Some thinks.

-The software modify the names of files, I think is beter if he do not modify nothing.
- Add a cancel buton or a close buton.
- You can add too the names of selected stars files.

Always good work !

The Program is updated!! Now a "Cancel-Button" is available. The files will not longer be renamed.

1) rename the original Stars.dat in Stars_little.dat (or whatever you want, but "stars" must BE first) With the first start of "CelestiaLoad" no "Stars.dat" may be present. This is a very important thing.

2) rename the other Stardatabases in medium and bid (stars_medium.dat, stars_big.dat)

3) Start "CelestiaLoad" and select the Database you want. This data base is renamed in "Stars.dat" and with the next call however again into the original, then the selection remains the same and no disorder with numbers arises to more.

If you start Celestia without the CelestiaLoader the last used Database will be used.

>>> What du you mean with: You can add too the names of selected stars files. ??

At same time we have the name of the files, can we see the size and maybe the date of last modify like:

stars.dat....................2748kb.......10-Jan-2002
stars_a.dat...............25489kb.......19-Sep-2002
stars_c.dat...............51327kb.......19-Sep-2002

Other things for future developements.

- Add option to select what ssc files of extra folder can be loaded

I renamed all three Star.dat files to Star1/2/3 but when I start Celestiaload it say no star files found, it also says that if I leave 1 star file as just star.dat, I could find no references to it in the registry to alter the path, any Ideas?

The renamed files must be like "stars ....... .dat" (for the points you can write something. (stars_little.dat, stars_medium.dat, stars_big.dat). There must be no spaces between the characters (for now...update is comming). Then the programm must be in the root directory of celestia. CelestiaLoad is searching for files beginning with the strings "stars" and end with ".dat". Between there can be anything else.
