I am having problems also. Celesita 1.2.4 works fine but whenever i go to earth in Celestia 1.2.5 the program freezes. I have an ATI Radeon 8500/AMD Duron 750mhz. I think its the new ATI drivers because if i roll back to the older drivers celestia works fine. Is anyone else with an ATI card havin this problem?

ATI Rage (Xpert 128)

I'm using an ATI Xpert 128 (Rage chip) and it works nicely. Although, the Rage is far from state of the art, it renders adequately on a fast CPU which is enough for my purposes. Celestia 1.2.4 definitely had problems with the Rage chip, but so far, v 1.2.5 of Celestia is performing admirably. I'm not really sure what the problem is with the Rage and Radeon, but it's PROBABLY associated with the OpenGL drivers. BTW, a big THANK YOU to the Celestia team for adding the KDE interface. Now, I waiting for the GNOME 2 one as well ... ;)

Celestia 1.2.5 is NICE!
:D

Ok. You Think the Problem is VideoCard in

this case?I dont think so(why 1.2.4. working good with ATI Rage?)

Rage DRIVERS

Black,

I'm not sure to whom you are referring, but the obvious answer would be the OpenGL DRIVERS, not the card itself. BTW, I'm using Linux instead of Windows to run Celestia. I can NOT vouch for the stability of the Rage OpenGL drivers for Windows, but I can vouch for the stability of the GATOS OpenGL drivers for XFree86 v 4.2. From memory, I think the website for the GATOS project is http://gatos.sf.net for LINUX drivers. I don't recall if the GATOS project supports Windows. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to test the stability of my ATI OpenGL drivers for Windows 98SE with Celestia.

Keep at it. You'll find a solution eventually WITHOUT having to trash the Rage card.
